The id/it argument - Q & A

Q.  "What is the id/it argument?"

A.  "Well it stands for intelligent design /  information technology and it is all about how a gene in biology is similar in function to a code object in computer programming; that both use file header and end of file marks and both are designed to perform a specific task and to help make software reusable.  The great thing about the id/it argument is that it does not focus at all on the complexity of life, which can be daunting, but rather it focuses on the method of design;  the use of software; the DNA software of life. And obviously human beings did not write the DNA software of life, probably some other intelligence did. And so yes, the id/it argument concludes that human intelligence is probably not the only source or even the best source of intelligence in the universe.  The one thing we do know, for sure, is that everything is not the result of natural causes and the best example is a computer program. A computer program is the result of an intelligent design.

And we now know that the genome is software. And just like it takes planning, or goal oriented cognitive forethought, to get your computer software to work correctly with your computer hardware it takes planning or goal oriented cognitive forethought to get the DNA software to work correctly with the cellular hardware, the ribosomes etc. In fact one of the great things about biology is that the cellular hardware itself, the ribosomes etc, are all encoded for by the software -  a really good example, if not proof, of goal oriented cognitive forethought. And so, that's the id/it argument. And the reason I am so exited to write about it is because it is a revival topic;  and that it does open up for us all, the wonder of the universe, of who the designer might be.

Q.   "And you think the designer is God?"

A.   "Yes, in fact my book starts off this way-   and I will just mention my ebook at Amazon is really just a collection of essays I wrote last year as a guest blogger at Huffington Post Alberta, -
A new ebook book at Amazon "Essays on the Theme, An Evangelical Christian Speaks Out" http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00LHA1NSU/ref=redir_mdp_mobile

- but hopefully a few compelling essays can accomplish some good.

My book starts off this way:  More important than the time line is the evidence for intelligent design- because I know I can win that argument. And so begins my launch into "proving God exists" with the id/ it argument - meaning Intelligent Design / Information Technology. And it is a winner. The id/ it argument is that, even if the genome were simple, the fact that it is a language and that it uses many computer programming methods, including File Header and End of File marks and EDAC (Error Detection and Correction / DNA repair) and that the cellular hardware itself is encoded for by the software, (a good example, if not proof, of goal oriented cognitive forethought) altogether is good scientific evidence the genome was designed.
